Trouble in Paradise

14. September 2017 / 16:00 - 17:00

On the history, the present and possible futures of Prinzessinnengärten at Moritzplatz / Kreuzberg
moritzplatz

Once a motorway was planned here. Now carrots and potatoes are cultivated at Moritzplatz. But how long for? Prinzessinnengärten was started in 2009 as an temporary use project. In 2012 the privatization planned for the site at Moritzplatz was successfully stopped. A contract was negotiated securing the garden until 2018. The future of the garden beyond the expiring contract remains open. Marco Clausen, co-founder of Prinzessinnengärten and Nachbarschaftsakademie, is giving a guided tour on the history and present situation of Prinzessinnengarten in the context of the broader developments in the neighborhood and in Berlin in general.
