Workshop mit Paula Gioia

This workshop may instigate participants to revisit their memories and lived experiences of ›peasantry‹. From there we want to review the development of agriculture’s history over the past 50 years, in order to understand the current dynamics in the agropolitical arena and its relation to the eating and consumption behaviors of citizens in the global north. We want then to present to the participants the work and struggles of La Via Campesina, the global peasants movement, in order to feed humanity, to protect the planet and to defend human rights. Finally, the workshop may provide the room for exchange on jointly strategies among participants and in civil society in general to achieve the urgently needed social ecological transformation.

Paula Gioia is beekeeper and farmer in a collective farm in Brandenburg. She represents the Arbeitsgemeinschaft bäuerliche Landwirtschaft (AbL) in the coordination committee of Via Campesina Europe (ECVC).
